Q:Hello! I have been asking my parents since I was in third grade (I am not in tenth) for a corgi and tomorrow I am going to look at one. I read that they need weekly brushing and lots of exercise. She is 11 weeks old. Do you have any tips or advice to help me? Do you know of a good puppy food to give her? Thanks!
Hello!! Congrats on potentially getting a corgi puppy! :)
Corgis are SHED BOMBS! They do shed a lot once they get their adult coat so weekly brushing is a must. Invest in a deshedding brush like a Furminator. :)
For exercising, from my experience, they do require a lot.. but nothing that is extreme. A few good, long walks a day and mental stimulation always did the trick for me! I used to have Gravity’s grandmother and I took her for an hour long walk in the morning and an hour long walk in the night and she loved it! Corgis do well for people who walk their dogs daily. Remember.. they are herding doggies! Hikes are awesome!
For puppy food, try very high quality foods. Dog Food Advisor will rate foods out of five stars. Try to stick with foods that have four or five stars. I feed Gravity a completely raw diet (the prey one and not BARF) and she is doing soooo well with it. I am a huge advocate for feeding dogs raw but it does take a lot of research!
Crate train your puppy!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me or other corgi parents! :)
I have been thinking that maybe we should create a page of references and tips for new puppy/dog owners, What do you guys think?
Bucks was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor.
He looked very great and he had a pretty healthy appetite.
But one day, when we gave him a massage, we found a bald spot in his fur by chance. It was very difficult to detect it from his appearance.
This tumor was at high risk of metastasis and Bucks removed his extensive skin.
if you find a bald spot in your dog’s fur, please take him/her to the veterinarian for a checkup as soon as possible.
Now Bucks keeps quiet and he has moderate appetites. I just pray for his quick and complete recovery.
Poor baby! Hope he recovers soon.
This is good information to know. Sharing.

my baby corgi Teemo got ran over by a SUV on August 30, 2014. We sent him to emergency immediately and tried to stabilize him. He has two femoral fractures in his right back leg and the doctor recommended surgery asap. If I tell you that I don’t care about how much money I spent on my baby, that…
If anyone can donate or signal boost, would be much appreciated. Teemo’s corgmom just paid her college tuition when her baby was hit by a SUV. Please help!
Poor Baby. Got ran over and now his mom needs help with the surgery. She needs $6000 for the surgery. Any little bit will help.
